1 in 3 Pakistanis (33%) believe inflation is the most pressing issue facing the country at the moment.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 1 in 3 Pakistanis (33%) believe inflation is the most pressing issue facing the country at the moment.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “What, in your opinion, is the most pressing issue Pakistan is facing right now?” In response, 33% said inflation, 19% said unemployment, 14% said corruption, 6% said poverty, 5% said energy crisis (electricity and gas), 7% said none and 8% said others. 8% did not know or wish to respond.

Urban-rural breakdown: Near unanimity of views between urban and rural areas

In urban areas, 34% respondents said inflation, 17% said unemployment, 12% said corruption, 6% said poverty, 5% said energy crisis (electricity and gas), 13% said others and 2% said none. 11% did not know or wish to respond. In rural areas, 33% said inflation, 20% said unemployment, 15% said corruption, 5% said poverty, 5% said energy crisis (electricity and gas), 9% said none and 7% said others. 6% did not know or wish to respond.
