14% Pakistanis believe they are (somewhat or very) unhealthy; 3 in 5 believe they are healthy

Islamabad, 11 February, 2020

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 14% Pakistanis believe they are (somewhat or very) unhealthy; 3 in 5 believe they are healthy.

A representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “How do you consider your overall health?” In response, 24% claim they are very healthy, 61% think they are healthy, 12% believe they are somewhat unhealthy while only 2% consider themselves unhealthy.

Urban/Rural Breakdown: Almost equal proportion of rural and urban Pakistanis believe they are healthy

Out of total urban respondents, 84% believe they are healthy as opposed to 86% rural respondents. Only 16% in urban areas and 13% in rural areas consider themselves unhealthy.

Gender Breakdown: Females report lower levels of overall health with 1 in 5 claiming they are somewhat unhealthy

Out of the total males that responded, 30% said they considered themselves very healthy as compared to a much lower 13% females. 61% males and 62% females felt they were healthy. 8% males and much higher 21% females felt they were somewhat unhealthy while 1% males and 2% females felt they were very unhealthy.
