According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gillani Pakistan, 22% Pakistanis favorably rate the latest budget unveiled for the fiscal year 2018-2019.

A nationally representative sample of men and women across the four provinces was asked, “Recently, the budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019 was announced. In your opinion, is the new budget good, bad or just average?” 22% respondents said that the budget announced was good, 39% said it was bad and 24% said it was average. 15% did not know or did not wish to respond.

Trend Analysis:

The question has been asked in previous years. In 2016, only 12% respondents said that the budget was good, 55% said it was bad, and 27% said it was average. 6% did not know or did not wish to respond. The graph below shows the fluctuations in the public opinion since 2008.

It is interesting to note that 22% Pakistanis who rate the latest budget as good, is the highest favorable rating noted for a new budget in the past 10 years.
