27% of those Pakistanis who have children between the ages of 9 and 19 think their children need more information about nutrition.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 27% of those Pakistanis who have children between the ages of 9 and 19, of whom they are the care taker, think their children need more information about nutrition; 24% think they need information about eating disorders.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women who have children between the ages of 9 and 19 of whom they are the caretaker, from across the four provinces was asked, “Which of the following health topics do you think your child/children need(s) more information about?” In response to this question, 27% respondents said their children need more information about nutrition, 24% think they need more information about eating disorders, 19% think they need information about dental hygiene, and 10% think they need more information about tobacco. Moreover, 9% respondents mentioned diabetes management, 7% mentioned drug abuse, 6% mentioned mental health issues, 6% mentioned STDs, 5% mentioned asthma management, 3% mentioned alcohol, 3% mentioned reckless driving, and 2% mentioned suicide prevention as the health topic their children need more information about. 2% of the respondents said their children needed information about none of these topics, while 6% mentioned others and 4% did not respond.
