43% Pakistanis believe that creating new provinces would be good for Pakistan. 3 in 4 in KPK opine the same while 37% in Sindh opine differently.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 43% Pakistanis believe that creating new provinces would be good for Pakistan. 3 in 4 in KPK opine the same while 37% in Sindh opine differently.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Suppose if Pakistan is further divided in more provinces, would that improve the conditions of the country, deteriorate them or would they remain the same?” In response to this question, 43% said creating more provinces would improve the country’s conditions, 31% said it would deteriorate them and 22% said the country’s conditions would remain the same. 4% did not know or wish to respond.

Responding to the same question in 2009, 20% said creating more provinces would improve the country’s conditions, 53% said it would deteriorate them and 25% said the country’s conditions would remain the same. 2% did not know or wish to respond.
