Developmental assistance: Majority of Pakistanis (50%) believe that developed countries should give assistance to people of poor countries even if the government in the poor country is corrupt.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, majority of Pakistanis (50%) believe that developed countries should give assistance to people of poor countries even if the government in the poor country is corrupt.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Please indicate which of the following statements you favour: 1. Developed countries should help only those poor countries which do not have corrupt leaders, or 2. Developed countries should help poor countries even if government in these countries is corrupt?” In response to this question, 45% said that developed countries should help poor countries only if their government is not corrupt, 50% said that developed countries should help poor countries regardless of whether or not their government is corrupt, while 5% did not know or did not wish to respond.
