66% of Pakistanis favor frequent parent-teacher meetings. 59% consider parent-teacher associations to be useful: GILANI POLL/GALLUP PAKISTAN
The results of a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan indicated that 66% of Pakistanis are of the view that frequent meetings between parents and teachers can prove to be very beneficial for the child’s progress at school.
In a survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces were asked the following question: “In your view should parent teacher meetings happen often, occasionally or never?” Majority (66%) favored frequent meetings between parents and teachers. 25% were of the view that occasional meetings are sufficient while 8% said that there was no need of these meetings at all.

In a related survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces were asked the following question: “In your view to what extent are Parent teacher associations beneficial for a child’s academic performance?” 59% said that are very useful. 32% said that they are somewhat useful. Only 8% were of the view that they are rather harmful. 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan , the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2574 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during 10 July – 16 July 2011. Error margin is estimated to be approximately + 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
